'Pop Stars' Chooses Its Lucky Five Now that the five girls of "Pop Stars" have been chosen, all they have to do is choose a name, record an album and sing live on stage... The five girls chosen to make up the girl band in The WB's "Popstars" are: Ana Maria Lombo, Maile Misajon, Nicole Scherzinger, Ivette Sosa and Rosanna Tavarez.
Revealed in Friday's episode, the women faced a series of auditions that originally included over 1,000 girls. The committee of industry experts who made the decision of who stayed and who left was led by music producer David Foster, President of London-Sire Records Peter Koepke, choreographer Travis Payne, vocal coach Roger Love, record executive Jaymes Foster-Levy and music manager Jennifer Greig-Costin. "We think we have chosen five young women who can be great role models and who share the ideals and aspirations of today's youth," Foster said. "These girls can sing, act and dance and when they leave a room you know they're gone."
The girls, who must now decide on a name for the group, will begin recording their debut CD with 14-time Grammy Award-winning Foster as the record's executive producer. The CD is slated for a May release on London-Sire Records, in association with Foster's 143 Records, both owned by Warner Music Group.
"Everyone at London-Sire is looking forward to a long association with these five women," said Koepke. "They're everything you could hope for in a musical group. They're all fantastically talented singers and great dancers. They're articulate, charming women who have a very bright musical future and a great career ahead of them." The girls' days are currently filled with studio sessions, advanced vocal training, grueling dance rehearsals and publicity photo shoots. Produced by Stone Stanley Entertainment, "Pop Stars" airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. on The WB. The final episode, set to air April 6, will end the series with the girls performing at their first live concert. Related Shows
