Slew of Distaff Casting News Brings Gugino, Mathis and Farr to TV It was Ladies Day on the casting wire as actresses dominated the latest round of pilot news.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carla Gugino will step into Jennifer Lopez's stylish suede boots as a female federal marshal in "Karen Sisco." The ABC drama is based on the lead character of Elmore Leonard's novel and Steven Soderbergh's film of "Out of Sight." Gugino was a regular for the first season of ABC's "Spin City," and has also appeared on "Chicago Hope" and "Falcon Crest." Her film work includes "Spy Kids" and its sequel as well as "Troop Beverly Hills."
Mathis is the veteran of several short-lived TV series including "Harsh Realm" and "First Years." On the big screen she's starred in "Pump up the Volume," "Broken Arrow" and "Super Mario Bros." Former "Loveline" sidekick and "The Job" co-star Diane Farr will star in "The Ripples" a new comedy from NBC Studios and DreamWorks TV. Farr and Adam Arkin will play a couple who have been married for 4,000 years.
>Christine Taylor of "The Wedding Singer," "Zoolander" and Ben Stiller's marriage will replace Jennifer Esposito in the CBS sitcom "Harry's Girl." Taylor will play a single gal in the city. Lest that sound too bland, the show will be narrated by her trusty canine.
Additionally, Moira Kelly of "The Cutting Edge" (and the first couple episodes of "The West Wing") has been added to the cast of The WB's drama pilot "Ravens." In casting news that doesn't involve women, D.B. Woodside, currently fighting the undead on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," will play Danny Glover's son in a still-untitled drama on CBS. Related Shows
