If there's one thing that can be said about those Simpson girls, they like to work and they like to let MTV's cameras watch. As sister Jessica is in the midst of trying to transition into acting, Ashlee Simpson's move from "7th Heaven" co-star to recording artist will be chronicled in an unscripted MTV series.

Set to premiere this summer, "Ashlee" will follow Simpson through every step of her career expansion, from the moment she signed her first record deal to her album release.

"My series will show people all the hard work it takes to cut an album, and I'm excited for everyone to see this and live it right along with me," Simpson says. "I'm really proud of everything that I've accomplished and I can't wait for the MTV audience to see it for themselves."

WB fans know the 19-year-old Simpson as Cecilia on "7th Heaven." She has also appeared on several episodes of Jessica's reality smash "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica," as well as in the feature "The Hot Chick." Thanks to these credits, MTV feels comfortable declaring that Ashlee is "already a phenomenon."

"Ashlee has connected with her fans as an actress, and now they will have an opportunity to see her as she drives to succeed in the music arena," says Lois Curren, the network's executive vice president series and movie development. "Ashlee is talented and charismatic, and we are happy she is taking us along on her adventure in the music industry."

"Ashlee" is executive produced by Lois Curren, Greg Johnston and Rod Aissa and produced by Joe Simpson.
