Spike Lee Works 'Miracle's' for The N Spike Lee and his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee, are set to bring the young-adult novel "Miracle's Boys" to television.The book will become a six-episode miniseries on The N, the nighttime, teen-oriented incarnation of cable network Noggin. Tonya Lewis Lee is executive producing, and her husband will direct the first episode."Miracle's Boys," based on a novel of the same name by Jacqueline Woodson, is The N's first dramatic miniseries. It will be shot entirely on location in Harlem, with a premiere scheduled for February 2005."We're excited to have the opportunity to feature the vibrancy of Harlem and the local community to help tell this authentic story," says Sarah Tomassi Lindman, vice president of programming and production at The N. "Spike Lee is the perfect director to help The N bring the series to life."The series follows the lives of three brothers -- Ty'ree, Charles and Lafayette Bailey, whose mother Milagros (the Spanish word meaning "miracle") has recently died. Their father is also deceased, leaving the three brothers on their own. Oldest brother Ty'ree has given up college plans to support his younger siblings, while Lafayette, the youngest, has trouble dealing with his mom's death and retreats into himself. Middle brother Charlie, meanwhile, has just returned from a stretch in a juvenile detention hall full of anger at his family and the world.Spike Lee's directing credits include "Do the Right Thing," "25th Hour," "She's Gotta Have It" and "Malcolm X." His next film, "She Hate Me," is due later this year.Tonya Lewis Lee executive produced a documentary for The N about the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case and has also produced Black History Month programming for Nickelodeon, The N's sister network.
