The WB Adapts to 'Survival of the Richest' Darwin would be so proud. A selection of popular reality television franchises seem to have evolved into "Survival of the Richest," a new unscripted program set to premiere on The WB this summer. It's "Amish in the City" meets "Cattle Drive" meets "Trading Spouses" with just a touch of "Beauty & The Geek.""Survival of the Richest" comes from RDF Media ("Wife Swap") and Stuart Krasnow ("Average Joe") and tosses seven wealthy, boorish youngsters (collective net worth of roughly $3 billion) into a house with seven plucky working class kids (collective debut of over $150,000). They're forced to live together and split into economically integrated pairs to compete for a grand prize of $200,000 (or "dinner," as one rich dude declared in the teaser screened for reporters at the semi-annual Television Critics Association press tour).Noted VH1 talking head and "Queer As Folk" co-star Hal Sparks will host."'Survival of the Richest' is a fascinating reality show filled with larger-than-life, breakout characters," says WB President David Janollari. "In this buzz-worthy series, the rich and the working class will collide and collaborate in a unique competition that illuminates class differences with humor and poignancy."The trials include chores like working for Habitat for Humanity, cleaning up the spectator stands after an event and, if the teaser is to be trusted, harvesting vegetables.
