'L Word' Invites Fans to the Table Read Showtime's series "The L Word" has launched thousands of fan-fiction stories in its two-plus seasons on the air, and now the show wants to harness that creativity. The producers have teamed up with a web community called FanLib to create a fan-written script the show that has the potential to be used as a future episode. A member of "The L Word" writing staff will guide the contest, and fans will be able to vote on the best submissions.Writers and other contributors to the project will also be eligible to win prizes."It's exciting to get to share the fate of these characters with people so passionate about them," says Ariel Schrag, a writer for the series who will moderate the crafting of the "fanisode." "I'm really curious to see the diverging stories coming from so many different fans."Starting next week, those registered at LWordFanisode.com will be able to submit scenes for the script based on a "scene mission" given by Schrag. Members of the community will then vote on their favorites, which will be added to the ongoing script. The contest ends March 31.At the event's conclusion, Showtime and FanLib will offer a free e-zine with the finished script and other materials from the contest. The producers of "The L Word" will also have the option to produce the fan-written script for a future episode (though not in the show's current season).
