Ruck Spins to FOX, 'Mean Girl' Caplan to WB Alan Ruck, who starred in "Spin City" but will forever be Ferris Bueller's best friend Cameron, is back in the TV game with a FOX pilot. "Freaks and Geeks" alum John Francis Daley, "Mean Girl" Lizzy Caplan, Simon Rex and Virginia Williams will also work this pilot season.Ruck, who played political operative Stuart Bondek for all of "Spin City's" six seasons, will next star in FOX's comedy "Don't Ask," from writer Nicky Silver. His character will set the story in motion when he leaves his wife and kids for another man, according to The Hollywood Reporter.In addition to "Spin" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," Ruck has appeared in "Speed," "Twister" and HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon."Also at FOX, Daley has signed on to "Kitchen Confidential," the Darren Star-produced adaptation of chef Anthony Bourdain's memoir. He'll play an eager young chef at the restaurant where the lead character works.At The WB, meanwhile, Caplan will star opposite Jennifer Esposito and Laura San Giacomo in an untitled drama about four New York sisters from ex-"Sex and the City" writer Liz Tucillo. In addition to "Mean Girls," in which she played Cady's (Lindsay Lohan) friend Janis, Caplan has appeared in "Orange County" and the short-lived FOX series "The Pitts."The Frog has also signed Williams ("As the World Turns"), Rex ("What I Like About You") and Josh Janowicz for its comedy "Mindy and Brenda," about best friends with decidedly different worldviews. Williams will play the latter of the two title characters.
