'Poker's' Dinklage Gets Lucky in Vegas Peter Dinklage has a relatively simple and occasionally effective poker strategy."I over-bet too much. I go blind," the "Station Agent" and "Elf" actor tells Zap2it.com.He's one of the latest stars lured to the bluffing, trash-talking spectacle "Celebrity Poker Showdown," Bravo's hit reality show that launched its sixth tournament on Thursday, Aug. 18. Hosted by comedian Dave Foley and expert poker analyst Phil Gordon, the show is shot live at the Palms Resort Casino in Las Vegas.Dinklage, 36, will appear in the "Boys Night Out" episode (Thursday, Aug. 25), locking horns with musician Meat Loaf, Howie Mandel ("Hidden Howie") and TV dads Bryan Cranston ("Malcolm in the Middle") and Stephen Collins ("7th Heaven")."You get kind of nervous," he admits. "I usually play poker without an audience watching."Of course, knowing that a contribution to his pet charity was at stake and that viewers at home would scrutinize his game play didn't help either. Nevertheless, Dinklage seems unruffled by his performance."I did fairly well I think," he says without tipping his hand. "Perhaps I'm bluffing. You're going to have to watch it, although it's not about who's going to win. It's about watching stupid celebrities play poker."The actor will also make his regular TV debut this fall in CBS' "Threshold" (premiering Friday, Sept. 16), a drama co-starring Charles Dutton, Carla Gugino, Brent Spiner, Brian Van Holt and Robert Benedict. Executive produced by Brannon Braga ("Enterprise"), David Heyman and David Goyer, the story centers on the U.S. Navy's discovery of an extra-terrestrial craft in the mid-Atlantic Ocean."A team of experts all in their different fields are brought together to solve this phenomenon. I play Arthur Ramsey, who's a brilliant mathematician and linguist," he says. "It's really cool and scary as all f***."Although Dinklage still remains mum on his "Poker" performance, he didn't necessarily leave Sin City empty handed."[I] got hitched in Vegas, yo," he says, referring to his recent elopement with theater director Erica Schmidt. "I'm very private about that stuff. I can't believe I just told you all that."Dinklage will return to the chapel as a wedding planner in his latest comedy "The Baxter," which opens in limited release on Friday, Aug. 26.
