Kevin Rahm, Dr. Danny Kozak on "Jesse" and Kyle on "Judging Amy," joined executive producer Barbara Hall's other show when he played Joan's guidance counselor on "Joan of Arcadia." Thanks to TV Gal reader Robin for this familiar face.
TV Gal reader Rob recognized Ted Rooney, Babette's husband Morey on "Gilmore Girls" and Alex's father on "Roswell," as the murder victim obsessed with Sherlock Holmes on "CSI." Catherine Dent, Danny on "The Shield," turned out to be the killer.
TV Gal readers Jen and Mandy who recognized Mark Matekvich, Drue Valentine on "Dawson's Creek," as Roger, Joan's tutor on "Joan of Arcadia."
TV Gal reader Ken reports that Andrea Roth, Tommy's wife Janet on "Rescue Me," played the wife of a wealth murder victim on "Law & Order." Daniel Sunjata, Franco on "Rescue Me," played the prime suspect. John Benjamin Hickey, Phillip on "It's All Relative," played the lawyer.
Kelly Hu played Detective Kylie Macca on "CSI: NY." She was Michelle on "Nash Bridges" and Grace on "Martial Law."
TV Gal reader Michelle recognized Paget Brewster as Jamie, Alan's old high school friend on "Two and a Half Men." She plays Beth on "Huff," was Andy's boss Jessica on "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" and was Claire on "The Trouble with Normal which also starred Jon Cryer. Most of you also probably know Brewster as Kathy, the girl both Chandler and Joey fell for on "Friends."
Rosa Blasi, Lu on "Strong Medicine," was the widow on "CSI: Miami." Judy Greer, Kitty on "Arrested Development," was the nanny accused of smothering a baby.
Katherine Narducci, Charmaine Bucco on "The Sopranos," was the nurse who tried to help the teenager who just had a baby on "Without a Trace."
Teri Polo was Matt Santos wife on "West Wing" (seriously why does this show insist on putting bad bangs on their female characters. Love Teri, hated the bangs). Polo was Alex on "I'm with Her," Pam in "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers," Maggie on "Felicity" (remember she had the affair with Ben?), and Rebecca Wells on "Sports Night."
Conor O'Farrell is currently playing Detective Copeland on "Desperate Housewives." He memorably played Graham Spaulding, the pedophile on "Without a Trace." He also played Ted Packard, Dr. Anne Packard's ex-husband on "24." Remember she was the President's girlfriend last season. Thanks to TV Gal reader Katie for this familiar face.
Leslie Jordan played Bernard Ferrion, the man who accidentally killed his mother on "Boston Legal." You may remember him as Beverley Leslie, Karen's archrival on "Will & Grace"
And I'm hoping you all recognized Lukas Haas, the little Amish boy in "Witness," is all grown up and playing Andrew Page, the computer hacker in a whole heap of trouble on "24."
Seth Cohen Quote of the Week"I am so screwed. Bruce Banner gets mad, he turns into the Hulk. I get mad, I turn into, a 75-year-old yenta."
Inside Joke Quotes of the Week"All the vomit? How much vomit? Like the little girl in 'Sixth Sense' or the fat guy in Monty Python?" Seth to Ryan on "The O.C." Thanks to everyone who reminded me that Mischa Barton played the little girl in "Sixth Sense."
"It's because last year sucked." Vaughn to Greg on "Alias."
Quotes of the Week"Do me a favor Rex, please don't mistake my anal retentiveness for actual affection." Bree to her husband on "Desperate Housewives."
"Wear something more appropriate. Pretend you're a lawyer." Shirley to Sally on "Boston Legal." Thank goodness someone finally said it.
"Great, God's a pop up ad. It's perfect -- appears out of nowhere and impossible to get rid of." Joan on "Joan of Arcadia" after God appears on her computer. Thanks to TV Gal reader Leigh for the quote.
"Your breath smells like Marissa. You are so drunk." Summer to Seth on "The O.C." Thanks to TV Gal reader Andrew for the quote.
"Are you sure she really left? Fake quitting seems to be all the rage." Sydney to Sloane on "Alias." Thanks to TV Gal reader Christi for the quote.
"The only guy we have left is Sark. And that's only because he's in custody. I hate that guy. Although I did go visit him twice. Just to see a familiar face. We had eggs." Marshall on "Alias."
"There's a fine line between denial and faith. It's much better on my side." Rose to Charlie on "Lost."
"You know eventually you may have to resort to manhood." Toby to Josh on "The West Wing."
Highlights of the Week Ahead
All times listed are Eastern Time for Jan. 10 to 16Aisha Tyler (love her, love everything about her) joins the cast of "24" Monday at 8 p.m. on FOX.
Does it bother anyone else that the cast of "Lost" (Wednesday, ABC, 8 p.m.) basically looks better after being stranded on an island for weeks that I do after showering, blow drying my hair and applying make-up. Is there some secret beauty spa where Kate is getting a bikini wax?
Okay, so we are all in general agreement that we
hate the new opening sequence on "Alias" (Wednesday, ABC, 9 p.m.) My friend Kara announced that she thought it look like an ad for Victoria's Secret. I understand that the show wants to use Jennifer Garner's innate sex appeal and beauty to hook viewers that were watching "Lost," but there is a fine line between playing up Garner's attributes and exploiting them. Right now I'm not sure which side the show is on. But for once, just once, couldn't Sydney go undercover in a baggy jeans and a shapeless sweater. Would that be so difficult? That actually may happen in a couple of weeks when Sydney disguises herself as, and I quote, an "earthy social worker."
The ladies get their chance at a make-better when Bravo premieres "Queer Eye for the Straight Girl" Wednesday at 10 p.m. (with a sneak preview Tuesday at 11 p.m.). I have long dreamed of my secret gay boyfriend Kyan Douglas taking over my life and declaring me to look "amazing." So far, the four Gal Pals don't seem as fabulous as their Fab Five predecessors, but I think it's only because I don't know them as well.
I'm hearing from a lot of you who are convinced that Annie Potts' Lieutenant Lucy Preston is the devil-in-disguise on "Joan of Arcadia" (Friday, CBS, 8 p.m.). Hey, if God hangs out in Arcadia, why not the devil? Lucy is tempting Will in more ways than one (to have an affair, to illegally draw out a confession) and it certainly seems like she orchestrated a hit on Judith's killer. What would Charlene, Suzanne and Julia have to say about that?
It's official. The Cohens are the Walshes of "The O.C." (Thursday, Fox, 8 p.m.). It's where all the kids go when they're sad or in trouble. This week Peter Gallagher, who was a Broadway star long before he was Seth's dad, will sing "Don't Give Up On Me" when Sandy serenades Kirsten on their anniversary.
Bernie Mac is back this Friday at 8 p.m. on FOX. America, I've missed him.
I really like Franky G, who stars as a criminal on the path to redemption on Fox's new series "Jonny Zero" (Friday, 9 p.m.) But the series, from executive producers John Wells, Llewellyn Wells, and Mimi Leder is a confusing, bleak, gritty mess. It's one of those series that is confusing and difficult to follow for no apparent reason. Plus in the three episodes available for review, Jonny gets beaten up one too many times. It's hard to believe he'd still be alive, let alone up and walking. Where does he think he is? A cotillion on "The O.C." One and a half stars.
You might have failed to notice this, but Star Jones got married recently. Star is back to host the E! Golden Globes pre-show this Sunday at 6 p.m. And Joan and Melissa finally return for "Joan & Melissa Live at the Golden Globes" on the TV Guide Channel at 6 p.m. Clint Eastwood's daughter is this year's Miss Golden Globe and presenters include Halle Berry, Megan Mullally, Will Ferrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Robbins, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts and Renee Zellweger. How can you not love the Golden Globes (Sunday, NBC, 8 p.m.). That less than one hundred journalists can cause this much of a brouhaha is simply fabulous.
To the TV Gal Reader Belongs the Spoils Don't even pretend like you don't know the rules. Don't read if you don't want to know.Richard and Emily will renew their vows on
"Gilmore Girls." We can be happy for the elder Gilmores, but still upset that Emily is going to stir up trouble for Luke and Lorelai. Trouble comes in the form of a certain father of their beloved granddaughter.
Andy will be wracked with guilt over his romance with Amanda. He'll collapse under the pressure and being rushed to the hospital on
"Everwood."Lucy will finally give birth on
"7th Heaven" and if you have any doubt about who will deliver the baby, you clearly haven't watched enough Aaron Spelling dramas. That's right the doctor in the family will deliver the newest Camden -- in an elevator no less.
Lucille 2 will be shocked to discover that Buster is dating someone else on
"Arrested Development." The Bluth family will lose control of the company when they all see their stock.
Cynthia Nixon will play a stroke victim on
"ER." Even though her character won't be able to talk, we'll get to hear her inner thoughts. Sissy Spacek will play someone for Kerry Weaver's past. Also look for Neela to get a little romance in her life when Dr. Gallant returns to the "ER" (Sharif Atkins is free now that "Hawaii" has been cancelled). Also Abby will continue her trend of exclusively dating doctors in the "ER."
That's all for today. I'll be back next Monday with a review of the new FOX series "Point Pleasant," a complete rehash of the Golden Globes, "Desperate Housewives" and the return of "American Idol."
